Is elopement legal?

Yes, elopement is legal in every state in the United States. The elopement will be registered just as legal marriage. There really is no difference. Our Officiant is also an ordained Minister and a graduate of Princeton in Theological studies. In order for your marriage to be legal, it must be performed by a judge, ordained minister, officiant; notary or justice of the peace. While there are many officiants that have taken a quick online course, it does not mean they can legally wed couples. Be sure to check their credentials!

Can I elope  and then later decide to have a church wedding?

Of course, it is perfectly fine if you later on decide that you would like to have a church wedding. It’s all up to you what you would like to do.

Can my friends be present?

Of course, you may invite friends to be present as you wish. For an elopement we typically recommend to limit your guest list up to 10 friends and family members. And for micro weddings up to 20 of your closest family and friends.

What is the advantage for me to elope?

First there is a financial advantage. Since elopements can save you thousands of dollars, as opposed to pay for a very large wedding. In US the typical wedding is around $30 000. Also there is the time and stress in a planning that can take several months. Unless you hire a wedding planner, the process may get overwhelming.

Another Advantage for an elopement is it you can pick that very special place or location for your special day. Do you like the mountain, waterfalls or the beach? Couples can choose a romantic place, that has meaning to both of you. Why not combine it with your honeymoon.
